I used EverythingCU's Find Credit Union feature to figure out which CU this is. But I'm really embarrased for them for putting out this web design bid. Three things make me cringe: Firstly, Flash is not the programming language they want to use to control promos appearing on their site. Secondly, no decent web design firm will build what they are asking for $1000. I guess they are hoping to find a kid fresh out of high school looking to break into web programming. Thirdly, several elements of the project are so vague that I don't see how any firm could intelligently bid for it as it currently stands.
Also, this CU already has a web site. This is a large CU with 75 employees and more than $100M in assets. So I don't see how it's a matter of getting them up and running. But best of luck to them! I'm sure they'll find someone to give it a shot!
While I appluade their efforts to save some money - this is not the right way to go about solving your problem.
They will get what they pay for. That is without question. Having dealt with hundreds of web designers and programmers in my career - this post is litterally an effort to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
The fall back response they can expect to get from the designer after the site is modified is "What do you expect? You only paid me $500!"
With your internet presence being so important (and I pity those CEOs who don't see this as a fact) why would you risk it this way?
Your website is not like an old car that a shade tree mechanic can get it going and if it runs 90% ok - then thats good enough. A competent web developer should be looked at like an eye surgeon - you can find cheap ones, but would you take the risk?
